Unless you're a terrible parent and don't use car seats for your little ones, that is.

I use the Graco Nautilus for my daughter. I paid a pretty penny for it, and it's been amazing. Any future kids are going to get this same exact one. Though, that dang buckle was a major pain before the recall, but I'd gotten a replacement for it a little before that, at least.

Whichever one attaches best to the roof rack.

Not a parent, but if I don't see any Sparcos or Recaros in here, I'm gonna have a sad.

my kids are mostly grown. I used britax. At the time they were the only car seat company without recalls.

I still think they're great.

I don't believe in stupid infant seats. Just get a car seat that can be rear or forward facing.

Yes to no infant seat, waste of money as they are only useful for 6 months. Kind of realated, Australia has FINALLY approved the ISOFIX system!

Plus they're heavy once you plunk a twenty pound baby in it!

Given my little one is 6 weeks old right now, Chicco Keyfit30. Once he graduates to a non-infant seat it is going to be Britax/Recaro.

When they were little, the Britax Roundabout. Then they moved up to a Graco booster seat, and now use just the base of that.

Don't think they still produce the exact model I have, but this is the closest thing I find still available:

At the time I bought ours, these were pretty much the top rated seat. Key features are that it's approved for airline travel, and it's NARROW, so it will fit three across in many non-SUV's, or non-van. If you've got several young kids, this could keep you from needing a mini-van.

The other thing to consider is that they are HEAVY (26 lbs), which may be a concern with the latest LATCH weight limit interpretation. Personally, I think it is a non issue as do most car manufactures.

I still use it with my 4 1/2 year old son in my car, but we've switched to a straight booster in the wife's car. Theoretically, this could be the only seat you ever need to buy.

Some Baby Trend thing for infants right now–my little guy is 8 weeks on Monday.

I'll be going with a Recaro or Sparco (whichever is better rated) when he outgrows it. We went with an infant seat because likely we'll still need a forward-facing seat when we have a second, meaning no rear-to-forward facing seats.

My daughter's infant car seat was a Baby Trend as well. It came included with a matching jogging stroller, which we still use for her.

Mine has the matching regular stroller. Which promptly broke after the third time out.

We used the Graco Nautilus for my princess and bought two more for my son when he was old enough. We've got four (2 in each car) that are used daily. They're great - comfortable and durable. The covers come off easy enough and come out of the washing machine (normal setting) looking brand new. Baby's R Us will often have $50+ off specials on them with a coupon. The belt recall was 100% necessary - and the replacements were really easy to put on.

The only downside - we rotate cars frequently and the lock down clamps are a pain - changing them out once or twice a year is an exercise. I've borrowed a relative's Britax on vacation and the buckles snap in really well, and tighten easily. That being said - they are very durable, easy to adjust, clean very well, and have cup holders …which sealed the deal.

We've been using Chicco car seats. They aren't cheap, but they're really well made. Looking forward to switching it from rear to front facing in a couple weeks.

I think we've got 2 Graco MyRide's, one for each of our cars. One of which was replaced for the buckle recall. The main reason we choose them is because they had the best ratings for rear facing. We had our daughter rear facing past three years old, until she was too tall. They've been great. Even before the buckle recall we never had any issues. We had a Safety1st infant seat with matching stroller to start out, with the base that stays in the car. We used it because our daughter slept really well in it, we could just leave her in it and not disturb her when we went places.
